Why I love Squarespace and I'm positive you will too!
I’ve done quite a bit of web design over the years on various platforms - Wordpress, Wix, Weebly, ShowIt - and none can hold a candle to Squarespace.
In fact, I was tempted to name this post “You had me at Squarespace” because I love it that much!
Here are the reasons I have used Squarespace for several years, why I design websites for my clients exclusively on Squarespace, and why I’m positive you’ll love Squarespace as well.
It's so easy & intuitive.
The Squarespace interface is absurdly user-friendly and easy to learn. It’s probably the number one reason I chose Squarespace over several other web and blogging platforms, and why I design client sites on it too.
If you’ve ever posted a photo on social media, you’ll be comfortable uploading content to your website, blog, or online store using Squarespace. The platform uses content blocks to insert images, text, forms, social media links, and much more. Once you choose your block you can simply drag and drop it around the page to create the layout you’re after. The possibilities are endless!
After a tutorial, my clients are thrilled with how easy it is to maintain and update their new websites. They are able to create blog posts, update photos and text, customize forms, and add new products or services if they have an e-commerce site.
Squarespace makes it super easy to connect to the most popular online systems. Some third-party integrations are built into Squarespace and those that aren't are easily linked.
MailChimp, Acuity, most popular social media platforms, OpenTable, YouTube, Yelp, ConvertKit, Vimeo, SoundCloud, and PayPal are just a small sampling of the applications that are compatible with Squarespace.
The best part is they are kept up-to-date by the amazing team behind the scenes at Squarespace. There are no plugins to update and keep track of. Sweet!
What’s the point of having a website if nobody ever visits? Am I right?
Squarespace has great built-in tools to optimize your website and blog for search engines. Better rankings are due to keywords. On Squarespace you can customize image names and captions, title tags, URL slugs and more to include relevant keywords.
Also, it’s easy to use the built-in integration to connect your site to Google Analytics for visitor tracking and other reporting.
Responsive web design.
There are lots of fabulous websites out there, but if they don’t look good on a phone they aren’t that fabulous! We use mobile devices to surf the web more than desktop computers now, so responsive, mobile-friendly design is a MUST.
Squarespace allows you to build a beautiful website for a full-width computer browser that will automatically adjust to fit smaller screens like phones and tablets. There are even different view options as you are building your website to preview what it will look like on various screens.
I used to use Wordpress for my website and blog. I had to research the best hosting, domain registration, plug-ins, templates, etc. I also had to perform updates often. Sometimes an update would render many of my plugins useless. Not cool!
With Squarespace, everything is in one place. Hosting is included in every plan. There are no plug-ins or updates necessary for security or functionality. You can even register a domain through Squarespace.
This makes things incredibly easy and organized, especially when it comes to billing. It’s the perfect platform for small businesses!
Squarespace is incredibly affordable.
Whether you want to start a food blog or need a full e-commerce site to sell your art or product, Squarespace has a range of affordable plans.
Plans range from $12 dollars a month for a personal website to $40 for an advanced online store (these are the prices if you pay annually; it’s a little higher if you pay month-to-month).
It’s never been easier to get a professional, functional online presence.
Their customer support is outstanding.
I usually dread having to contact a company’s customer service, but it’s different with Squarespace.
You won’t need it much, but when you do it’s great! They are quick to answer questions and offer helpful solutions. There’s also a great forum where you can find answers to many common questions and issues.
As a business owner and entrepreneur, there are so many hats to wear. Web developer shouldn’t have to be one of them. With Squarespace, you can focus on what you love to do and still have a stunning, professional website that helps your business grow.
Do you use Squarespace? Are you considering using it or switching to it? Let me know in the comments!
